Ouroborous
I found an old rusted horse shoe in my backyard and one day I was looking at it and saw the ancient symbol of the serpent biting it's tale so I decided to carve it into the metal. It is interesting how unpredictable inspiration can be and where ideas can come from.

A Confederacy Of Dunces
I am currently reading A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole for a book club. Which I am highly enjoying and was inspired to illustrate some of the characters in the book from his descriptions - the main Character Ignatius, his mother Mrs Reilly and Jones.

Cambridge studio gallery portrait show
Here I am with my self portrait that was shortlisted in the who is looking at you portrait prize at the Cambridge Studio Gallery in Collingwood Melbourne this month.
With this self portrait I wanted to show not just what I look like, but what I do. By incorporating painting, woodwork and sculpture, I am demonstrating the puzzle-piece nature of identity.

The sparrow and the bread crumb
I wanted to create a sculpture of a simple everyday concept. Using the house sparrow that I see everyday searching for it's next meal proved to be the perfect source of inspiration. Reducing the lines and form to show the essence of the subject as if it has been drawn using Japanese brush work.
Red gum, metal, marble and stone base. Bird: 69Lx22Wx33H cm, Base 93Lx55Wx2D cm.
